Announcing the showing of Split the Film by Ellen Bruno!
NOTE: This event has past!
On May 7th, 2015 Mill Valley’s It Takes A Village is sponsoring The Mother Rising’s showing of Split, the film.
Split is a fabulous documentary for children and adults done entirely from the perspective of children. There is absolutely NO adult in the film. Even the portions of animation were done by the children. The music that accompanies the film is delightful and though the content is serious, the results of children watching the film are all empowering.
FOR CHILDREN
When children see this film, they are left feeling hopeful, not alone, and empowered. The children in the movie are just like them. There are no pretenses of their “trying” to be anything to them. They are not the paid counselor or the relative who “feels sorry for them”. They are the real deal kids going through divorce and the airing of their perspective and feelings of their experience is very liberating.
FOR ADULTS
The grown ups will get so much out of the film as well. There are so many aspects that go into parenting children through divorce that it’s tricky to feel like we really honor all of them for our kids. Some of them pass by the wayside. The viewing of the movie brings so much to light. The wisdom of their experience makes us better parents!
