Many of you have been purchasing Yin-care®’s Herbal Wash for the entire 20 years we have been importing and distributing it throughout the united States, others of you are new to Yin-care®’s Herbal Wash and its many uses. This very through read will provide some great direction for all!
Diagnostic criteria for Yin-care®’s Herbal Wash Use
Yin-care® is used for the following Chinese Medical diagnoses: damp, damp-heat, toxic heat, and wind conditions both dermatologically and gynecologically. It is also used topically/dermatoogically for external excess heat conditions. These diagnostic criteria may seem foreign to to those who are mostly immersed in western diagnostics; however, you truly can get a sense for what these Chinese Medical diagnoses mean if you use your amazing feminine intuitive powers and feel into it. What does a condition of dampness feel like, what would qualify damp-heat? how about toxic heat or wind?
To me dampness has a very wet humid feeling. It could have a light warmth, but mostly neutral in heat and just very moist. If I had to describe damp-heat it would be the same except that the temperature would be raised a bit. This is an elevated damp condition. So it could be a progression of dampness that if left unchecked moves into a damp heat condition; however, it does not have to be fully linear. For example, let’s add wind. You can have wind that sweeps a landscape out of nowhere. So it doesn’t have to progress per se from one to the other, though it can do that. Toxic heat really is a diagnosis that pushes the heat far enough along that it has now really thrown things out of balance to a greater degree and the word toxic has this implication.
How about external excess heat? External would be on the outside of the body, excess heat might arise with a burn or sun burn, a red and possibly itchy rash.
Feeling into Terrain Theory and Chinese Medical Diagnostics
As we move medically now from germ theory into terrain theory, we are really moving into an arena where these Chinese Medical diagnoses can better be understood. What is the terrain of the body. Have you moved your body’s terrain drastically from one type of environment to another? Have you ever travelled from a coastline at sea level to a high altitude area. It is quite noticeable in the body when we make these shifts and guess what? The body responds to the change in environment. The body also responds to a change in internal environment – what we are eating, what partners we couple with etc…all of these things change the terrain in which we are going on living.
We are Dynamic, Changing Beings
We are absolutely dynamic, so where as we may not have developed conditions of damp or damp-heat in our lives previously, suddenly we are developing them because life has changed for us in some way as imperceptible as that may be. Do not be surprised as our bodies change in response to our environment. Sometimes our environment changes without us realizing. For example, we could be eating a certain food that we have been eating forever and never had a reaction, but it’s possible that the company making the item changed their ingredient profile without you knowing. Or that the farm started using a new chemical it had never used before or, or, or…so many things that can create very subtle changes overall.
But I have Yeast or Bacterial Vaginosis or fungal issues and my doctor said I should use Yin-care®’s Herbal Wash
Let’s break it down. What would be the environmental conditions that might lead to the development of the western medical diagnostics for yeast to flourish? or how about bacterial vaginosis (BV)? and let’s also think about fungal developments…It’s not a big stretch of the imagination to visualize the conditions of damp or damp-heat to be present and provide the perfect environment for yeast, BV, or fungal proliferations. That is usually why many doctors prescribe Yin-care®s Herbal Wash for those who have been diagnosed with these western medical conditions. Again, Yin-care®’s Herbal Wash is used to treat damp and damp-heat conditions. It is a tool to nudge those conditions back into balance. It is not treating the yeast or BV. It is working on the conditions that allow yeast, BV and fungal infections to flourish.
Nudging the Microbiome back into Balance
Where many western and even natural products will attack the microbiome to really obliterate it of yeast, fungus, bacteria etc, Yin-care®’s Herbal Wash has this beautiful way of nudging the microbiome back into balance. It has been shown in research studies at the medical universities in China to lyse the yeast cells at a 10%-12% dilution (see our article on how to create a 10% dilution) but still allows lactobacilli to proliferate. Lactobacilli is the healthy vaginal bacteria that we want to remain in the vagina. Some women have great success bumping up the acidity of this solution by adding a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Every woman has a different vaginal microbiome make up and what works perfectly for one does not work perfectly for another. So consider the addition of a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar if the 10% dilution is not quite doing the trick.
What About Toxic Heat Conditions
One western diagnosis that can proliferate in toxic heat conditions would be HPV. The application of Yin-care®’s Herbal Wash will be quite different for this situation and we do recommend working with a health care practitioner who is familiar with Yin-care®’s Herbal Wash as one would have to use it at a much higher concentration and we do not recommend doing this without consulting with a knowledgeable care provider. Please check out our practitioner listing of those who work with Yin-care®’s Herbal Wash. That being said, there is an incredible protocol to use for toxic heat conditions that can truly correct this imbalance incredibly effectively. No surgeries involved.
A Couple of Other Important Things About Yin-care®’s Herbal Wash
There are a couple of other things. It’s important to remember that this current bottled version of Yin-care®’s Herbal Wash is both an essential oil based extraction as well as water based extraction off the herbs and it is a full concentration.
Concentrations
When you are using it, usually your practitioner who has recommended it also recommends an appropriate dilution. Using it at full strength can irritate areas depending on what it is being used for. For example, if you had a labial vaginal spot that you need to apply Yin-care®’s Herbal Wash to – if it has any type of open wound manifestation, you can imagine that a full strength application of an essential oil would HURT! Please be smart about this. The general go to dilution is going to 10% because that is mostly what people are dealing with – damp and damp-heat issues. So if you don’t know what dilution to use and you are not wanting to consult a practitioner, then start at 10% dilution. You can slowly bump it up in concentration. Maybe you want to try 20% for something or maybe you want to apply to a poison oak outbreak…there could be open pustules. You slowly bump it up. Never go above 50% without consulting a practitioner or reaching out to us for questions. We do try to make ourselves available and if we feel strongly that you need to see a practitioner we will let you know. We do want to empower you as a woman to use this product in a way that you get to know your own body and act responsibly in its application; however, there are a handful of circumstances where we simply are not comfortable with making recommendations. Touching the Affected Area
If you are applying Yin-care®’s Herbal Wash to an area that is problematic…Yin-care®’s Herbal Wash needs to touch the areas that are experiencing the imbalance. For example, we will get a lot of calls about urinary tract infection. Since the urinary tract is not really exposed externally and you cannot easily get to it internally with Yin-care®’s Herbal wash, it is not going to be very effective; however, you can apply a 10% dilution to a cotton pad and then place the cotton pad on the urethra for say 10 minutes to cool and calm the irritated urethra that is constantly feeling the urge to urinate. It may help curb the need to urinate lightly, but it is not going to correct the whole issue. Just remember that you have to sort of figure out how it is going to maintain contact with the area. For women going through a toxic heat protocol that is on the cervix – they have to maintain an extended period of a compress on the cervical area affected. One way this can be done is by using a tampon compress. For those wishing to address a toenail fungal issue – you have to figure out how you are going to get the nail covered! You will need to definitely consult a practitioner for learning the appropriate dilution for fungal issues; however, once you have the magic concentration to use you can put it on a cotton pad and either bandaid it to the nail, wrap it with plastic wrap or secure it with a sock holding it in place. You just have to get a bit creative.
