It’s hard for me to describe all of the intricacies of why I LOVE Mary Poppins. There’s the way she makes everything no big deal. There’s the way she turns everything around so children and adults alike don’t know which way is up. There’s the HAPPY HAPPY music. And there are the phrases from the songs:
- Just A Spoon Full of Sugar Helps the Medicine Go Down
- Feed the Birds, Tuppence a Bag
- I Love To Laugh
- Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (Expialidocious – fragi-cali-rubus – that’s Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious backwards)

What is NOT to like about all of that?
I recently watched Saving Mr. Banks and it brought me back to so many of the things I love about Mary Poppins. But what it really reminded me of was how I used to have the CD for Mary Poppins in my minivan when I was going through all of the YUCKIES of my “pre-divorce”. No matter what was going on in my life, no matter how sad I was, I could put on Mary Poppins and step outside of my “SHIT”.
